Variations on maille.
From everything I've heard, the "chain" part of the chainmail variants only came into play recently via such sources as D&D. An etymological page would be a great idea. In the meantime, is it up to the individual author what variant they use, or are we going to settle on one as a community?
The preface should probably include something like "While there are a variety of names that this art is called, we have chosen to use <variation here>. Using a single variant helps to keep things clear for you, the reader. If you are interested in the history of and alternate names for this art, check <section/chapter/whatever>."
<Section/chapter/whatever> for an in depth discussion on origins, variations, regional names, etc.

What kind of book?
That's weird, no linking from these threads, crap, I'll look at options, but the one obvious one would be like you did in the body of the page.
Type of book, as far as I see things shouldn't be a huge issue, as all of the content/pages can, and should, be formatted in such a way, that they would be able to be inserted into a custom volume, to fit the desires and needs of the person putting it together. Choosing just a few basic chapters for a booklet, or a complete copy of all material put down to PDF.
The number of pages and quality of content will, hopefully keep getting better, fine tuned for as long as folks are interested. Keeping that in mind though, we can keep it organized in a way that makes the most sense, and that'll be an ongoing topic of discussion.
Kodiak- Yeah, not being able to edit your own forum posts sucks.

Types of construction?
You've pretty much got it E.D....this is going to be a challenge to discuss in a forum like this, but I think the more images, describing some of the steps used in each of those methods will start to make things easier. Pics with little descriptions, going through the process, and like that, aarg**, we'll get there.K-
